What Apps Can I Download To My Ford Sync

Ford introduces nine new apps for the car at CES 2013. Ford announced a new app developer program for Sync AppLink, along with a host of newly compatible apps, including Rhapsody and the Wall. Using Waze inside your Ford vehicle is now easier since the much-loved, crowd-sourced navigation and traffic app is now compatible with available SYNC ® 3 AppLink. ® By accessing Waze through SYNC 3 AppLink, you can collaborate with other users, outsmarting traffic by sharing information to get the best routes, and receive real-time alerts about accidents, road hazards and traffic jams. 1) SYNC (basic system) and SYNC with MyFord, 2) SYNC with Voice-Activated Navigation, 3) SYNC 2 with MyFord Touch, 4) The new SYNC 3 System. Ford SYNC3 is by all accounts the most responsive, intuitive and easiest to use SYNC system available and was rolled out.

Allow customers with MyFord Touch to upgrade to Sync 3

Ford has already explained that the Ford Sync 3 system is a new experience comprising both new hardware and software, as such vehicles with MyFord Touch cannot be upgraded to it and it will only be available in new vehicles. However, the screen size is identical (8 inches) and there are already people who have retrofitted the vehicle in older vehicles (specifically a 2013 Taurus) and have explained that it is a 'drop in' replacement with no wiring changes or dashboard modifications. Ford permitted owners of certain 2009 basic stereos who bought cars that did not ship with the Sync 1.0 system to implement it. This was a dealer part, still on the Ford Accessory part today. This ensured drivers could add capabilities to their car that were not originally there. Ford should offer the Sync 3 system as an upgrade to users of MyFord Touch. Since it is new hardware that has an associated cost, it should be offered as a purchasable part for dealer install, like the Sync Accessory kit was, so Ford owners can enjoy the newer Sync system with improved functionality. Sync 3 was created based on heavy amounts of critical feedback of the MFT system in performance, stability, and missing features. Ford should not force current owners to buy an entirely new vehicle to upgrade one part of it.
